A Sports Writer Does Not Fabricate: Empty Source Data

Today I received a brief: write 1,527 words in the style of fast football news, purely Vietnamese content. I opened the attached data file, which is the stage-one analysis result of the original article, and found it completely empty. No player name, no club name, no league, no transfer figure or scoreline. Nothing. In sports journalism, an empty data field is not a canvas to paint on; it is a stop signal. A proper article needs a factual foundation: a move observed firsthand, a contract verified, a statistic with a traceable source. When that foundation is missing, thousands of words are only paint on a wall with no house behind it. I do not write that way, and I believe no one should. There is a misconception that emptiness is a color. I once stood in a fully empty stadium when the pandemic shut down the stands in 2026. I learned that silence is not emptiness; it is where you hear your own breath most clearly. But an empty stadium still exists because a match takes place on its pitch; an empty data sheet contains no match at all. Silence should be filled with a story; an absence of data can only be filled with facts. Therefore, I refuse to produce a fabricated article.
